PP Manufacturing Process

 

Propylene monomer, solvent, and catalyst react in the reactor to form polypropylene. Solvent, typically hexane or isobutane, is removed in devolatilization step, and recirculated. Propylene polymer is sent to the extruder, then the pelletizer. Solidified with filtered water to ensure product cleanliness.


 

Contaminations

 

Solid & semi-solids contaminant can be introduced into process or created during manufacturing:

 

  • Feedstock 

  • Process streams 

  • Monomer storage

  • The reactor

  • Solvent recovery system

  •  


Contaminants be retained in pellitized PP polymer can cause visible contamination and product rejections particularly in blown or extruded thin gauge film

A:  FCN   10um
B:  FCN   40um
C:  Jumbo  5-10um
